Cambridge-Arthur M. Walrath, 81, of Cambridge, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born July 5, 1935 in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Harold and Florence (Qua) Walrath.
He served his country with the US Marine Corps. Art attended school in Michigan to learn Diesel Mechanics and went to work for O’Donnell Quigley in Latham as a diesel mechanic for 10 years. He then owned OK Corral Garage in Johnsonville for 15 years. Art had an old Army ambulance with his tools and supplies needed to repair heavy equipment. He was also a crane operator for Ralph Briggs in Greenwich. Art retired from the Coila Garage in 2012 where he was a mechanic.
Art enjoyed hunting, fishing and building anything big or small using his creative imagination. His passion was working on all types of heavy equipment. He was a member of the NRA and at one time the Johnsonville Fire Dept.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Marissa Lee Walrath; a brother, Clifford Walrath.
Art is survived by his wife of 26 years, Louise McGee Walrath whom he married July 10, 1990; his children, Lori (David) McLenithan of Cambridge and Victor (Deborah McKenna) Walrath of Johnsonville; 3 grandchildren, Austin and Alyssa McLenithan and Taylor Victor Walrath.
Calling hours will be from 4-6 pm Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge. A funeral service will begin at 6:00 pm following the calling hours with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating.
